strike one [video/action]

[When the Gear turns on, for a few seconds all that can be seen is the sky. Then, a hand reaches over and into the view of the camera as someone picks up the Gear. It soon shifts over to point down at Yuuri, who is laying down on the grass, his Horsea lying next him.] It’s really hot out here. Is it always like this? I wish there was a swimming pool or something around here...

[He sighs and wipes a hand across his forehead.] Anyway, I was wondering… Where exactly am I? I mean I know what pokémon are but I can’t really be in that world, right? After all, it’s just a game. [He laughs a little.] This all has to be a dream or some elaborate prank. I mean, I get that this kind of thing happens in fiction a lot, but the possibility of it actually happening is really low.

So, well, what I’m trying to say is… How exactly do I wake up from this dream?

One is that if you go around winning all the Gym badges, you'll get to go home once you get them all. And that's pretty much ridiculous.

It'd be like thinking if someone ended up on Earth, they could get to go home if they went and won a baseball championship. It's just a sport. [... That everybody here was obsessed with, yeah, but... still!]

I can see where they're coming from, though. That's pretty much where the game ended. I don't think they would go through the trouble to bring us here just to defeat the Elite Four, though.

... I wouldn't mind if winning a baseball championship was the case. [yep. guess who loves some baseball?]
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

[Heather arches a brow... but then just snorts.]

Yeah, well, I still think it's stupid.

This place might have showed up in a game somewhere, but it's a world-- with people in it, and a culture and shit. Not just something where if you hit a block enough times, gold coins pop out.

[Yeah, as he can probably tell, Heather doesn't put a lot of stock in the BUT THIS IS ALL JUST A GAME. She does enough fourth-wall breaking in her OWN canon already.]

You're right. This isn't the game. As similar as it is, once you start mixing people into it...

I'm no computer expert, but I'm pretty sure there's some things that a game couldn't replicate.

[After all, if this WAS a virtual reality thing, it wasn't exactly IDEALIZED.]

... You know, life?

What kind of game gives you those little indents on your legs and the palms of your hands when you've been sitting in grass for awhile?

... Or remembers that bruises aren't always purple and black, sometimes they turn that nasty sick shade of yellow?

[identity profile] travelsbywater.livejournal.com 2011-07-06 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh right...

[He shakes his head.] It's honestly kind of hard to believe that all of this isn't some kind of dream.

... Sometimes it feels that way.

But a few weeks here and you'll start realizing it's not.

Yeah... I'm already starting to realize that it's not.
